Mentoring builds a stronger company team, fosters a positive work environment, facilitates the transfer of knowledge, improves productivity, and promotes best practices. LeighFisher believes strongly in mentoring and the benefits it can provide to our consultants. Accordingly, each junior consultant is given the opportunity to be paired with a senior staff member. This relationship is intended to help junior consultants with both career and project-specific advice, and often the mentor serves simply as a sounding board. In addition to our formal mentoring program, new hires are assigned a "peer buddy" who is responsible for helping the new hire with the transition to LeighFisher. Whether it is introducing the new hire to others around the office or helping to program voicemail on the LeighFisher phone system, peer buddies are the first line of defense for common questions and concerns.
Learning by Doing
LeighFisher fosters a culture of on-the-job learning. Our senior-level industry experts work side by side with new consultants from day one to help them develop new skills and approaches to solving problems. Each project is different and hands-on experience is proven to be the best way to foster new skills and interests. Working directly with project managers and senior staff also allows for direct feedback, which can lead to stronger skills.
LeighFisher’s markets and services are constantly evolving and, as consultants, we must be at the forefront of these changes to remain successful. Our consultants consistently provide project presentations, industry updates, and “brown bag” discussions to keep our staff up-to-speed on what is going on both internally and within the industry. Several of our staff attend and present at industry conferences around the world and these materials are also made available to assist with training.
It takes an entire team to see a project through from start to finish. LeighFisher's internal production and marketing departments assist in both winning work and delivering the best products to our clients. These internal resources also allow our consultants to focus their time on their technical and analytical strengths.
