Alan Duff, Executive Director

Alan has 33 years’ experience in the technical and commercial management of specialist teams of transport planners, economists and engineers. He has predominantly worked on road based transport systems but has also undertaken rail and aviation projects at a strategic and policy level.
Alan is a chartered civil engineer and has specialized in the development of strategy, identification of interventions to meet policies and strategies, assessment of options and then the promotion and procurement of the preferred interventions. He is a recognized expert in his field and has regularly presented evidence at planning inquiries and in Parliament.
He is an experienced business manager and has run consulting businesses for the last 20 years.
Notable recent projects include:
- Forth Replacement Crossing - £2.3bn estuarial crossing, transportation and economics lead professional.
- Strategic Transport Projects Review – Project Director responsible for delivering Scottish Government’s strategy for transport interventions to enable the sustainable growth and development of the Country.
