John Wheeler, Associate Director

John has spent over 20 years responsible for the operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure in the road, rail and bi-modal sectors. He is currently acting as Tunnel Manager on behalf of BAA the operator of Heathrow Airport advising on the operation, maintenance, risk management and refurbishment of three road tunnels and 10km of other tunnels on the Heathrow estate. John is also working on a part-time as basis supporting the National Roads Authority of Ireland overseeing and administering the operations and maintenance contract for the Dublin Port Tunnel and advising on the refurbishment of the Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork.

On joining LeighFisher (formerly Jacobs Consultancy) in 2005 until 2007 John worked for the team monitoring performance of the London underground infrastructure operator, Metronet, on behalf of its Lenders. As well as advising on maintenance aspects of the operation he worked with the Metronet team developing and shaping the asset management strategy and plans.

Prior to joining LeighFisher(formerly Jacobs Consultancy) John gained 14 years experience in the management of operations for the Channel Tunnel concessionaire Eurotunnel Plc. This extended from the initial set-up of the operations and maintenance organisation through to the running of passenger and freight services including all aspects of performance management, performance improvement, quality assurance and health and safety.
