William Dunlay

Bill Dunlay has more than 35 years of experience in airport planning. He has directed airfield and airspace studies for more than 40 airports in the United States and overseas.

Bill is currently managing:  (1) a research project for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) entitled “NextGen-Airportal Project Technologies: Systems Analysis, Integration, and Evaluation;” (2) a research project for the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Project 03-17:  Evaluating Airfield Capacity; (3) a Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) for the Capacity Enhancement Program at Philadelphia International Airport; and (4) an airfield simulation analysis using the Total Airspace and Airport Modeller (TAAM) as part of an environmental assessment at Salt Lake City International Airport.

In the past four years, Bill managed:  (1) a study for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport:  Potential Cost-Saving Opportunities Through Right-Sizing Airfield Capacity; (2) a research project for ACRP:  Understanding Airspace, Objects, and Their Effects on Airports; (3) the Ultimate Airfield Capacity Study at Oakland International Airport; (4) a benefit-cost analysis of various taxiway improvements proposed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for John F. Kennedy International Airport; (5) LeighFisher’s participation in the Environmental Impact Statement for the airfield expansion at William P. Hobby Airport (Houston); (6) an analysis of terminal expansion alternatives at LaGuardia Airport using the TAAM; and (7) an analysis of airfield capacity vs. gate capacity at San Francisco International Airport.
