SECURITY PLANNING WORKSHOPS - VARIOUS AIRPORTS

Following passage of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA), Leigh Fisher Associates has augmented its staff capabilities and now offers access to experts in all of the disciplines necessary to address the full range of security-related issues, including security equipment, systems, and procedures baggage system design; and terminal facilities planning, engineering, construction, and finance.

To help our clients keep informed on rapidly evolving developments related to airport security, we have established a program of security planning workshops. The objectives of these workshops are tailored to the specific needs of each client, which typically are to:

  • Interpret the ATSA, its implementation, and the division of responsibilities among representatives of the airport, airlines, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
  • Provide up-to-date technical information
  • Develop planning concepts for 100% checked baggage screening using explosives detection systems (EDS) equipment and identify potential effects on passenger levels of service
  • Identify key policy, technical, and business issues that must be resolved among the airport operator, the TSA, and the airlines to implement 100% checked baggage screening using EDS equipment, and a strategy for resolving the issues
  • Identify potential sources of funding for required physical improvements

Leigh Fisher Associates has developed and led security workshops at airports spanning the full range of size and complexity, including those serving Albuquerque, Baltimore-Washington, Harrisburg, Nashville, and New York. Workshops are planned at several other airports.
