Modeling and Simulation Capabilities
Recent developments in computer technology have greatly enhanced the capabilities of computer
simulation models. For example, using advanced computer graphics, including 3D animation, to
explain the results of complex simulation analyses has made such models much more
understandable to the layperson. Leigh Fisher Associates has developed and uses the
latest computer analysis, simulation, and modeling techniques to support all aspects of
our airport planning and consulting services. We work closely with the FAA in developing,
testing, and enhancing airport planning tools such as the Integrated Noise Model (INM), the
Airport and Airspace Simulation Model (SIMMOD), the Runway Capacity and Delay Models, and
techniques to analyze ARTS radar flight track data. We are leaders in using such models to
resolve noise, capacity, delay, and operational issues at airports.
We have also developed and use sophisticated simulation and analytical models to analyze
passenger movements through terminal buildings, traffic movements on airport roadways and
curbsides, and the management of aircraft gates. Using design drawings, we have created 3D
models of terminal buildings to evaluate the exposure of concessions to passengers and
visitors, to examine the effect of new commercial developments on passenger flows and signage;
to evaluate design concepts; and to evaluate the effects of commercial development on terminal
building aesthetics. We can convert the output from all of the 3D simulation models and
animation to broadcast quality video.
Production Support
LFA supports a full-service in-house production department for documents and presentations,
using a broad range of platforms for desktop publishing (including word processing and
graphics), computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), and copying capabilities. We use
high-speed, full-color copiers and color plotters and the latest graphics and animation
software
Technical Editors
One of the things that makes Leigh Fisher Associates unique among its competitors is that
we employ technical editors to ensure the quality and consistency of our documentation. As
a result, we have been able to successfully support our clients during environmental
litigation and received praise from clients and others, such as rating agencies and
client counsel, on the readability and clarity of our documents.
